he GCP have put forward proposals to improve bus transport and the introduction of a congestion charge. The proposal is to reduce bus fares to £1 within the city and £2 outside, to improve frequency and services, and to introduce a congestion charge for all motor traffic. The charge area (see above) covers almost all of Cambridge, including the Hurst Park Estate. The current proposal would mean that anyone from the estate driving anywhere within the zone between 7am and 7pm on weekdays would pay a congestion charge of £5 (although various exemptions and discounts would apply).
