Arbury Court Redevelopment

Cambridge City Council has been considering improvements to the environment and building stock of Northern Cambridge.  In September 2024, the Council published a report referring to possible redevelopment of the Arbury Court estate amongst a range of projects.  No firm decisions have yet been made, but the Council is developing its ideas in a “Framework for Change for North Cambridge”. To this end, in early 2025 the Council wrote to small businesses in Arbury Court on the subject of their leases, which run to 2030. Businesses were apparently offered an opportunity to meet one-to-one to discuss any concerns. The Council’s stated aim is that, in the event of a decision to redevelop Arbury Court, all resident traders would be able to continue trading during any redevelopment.  Understandably the announcements have caused anxiety amongst residents and traders. There is to be a first consultation on the current thinking from May to June 2025 to communicate ideas and receive feedback.  Following the first consultation, a report will be produced and a second consultation held during autumn 2025 and concluded by the end of the year.
