If you use candles or tea-lights at home, please don’t throw the used ones away! St Andrew’s Church, Chesterton is collecting them so that they can be made into candles that will be shipped out to Ukraine for use in people’s homes and also by soldiers in the trenches. The people in Ukraine really need candles - even when the power supply has been restored, it is often very unreliable. The candles are beneficial not just for their light but for also for heat, and this is particularly valued by the soldiers in the trenches.
Candles for Ukraine is a project set up by the Swindon Humanitarian Aid Partnership. Leave your used candles and tealights - any colour or size is fine - in Karrie Fuller’s porch (38 Orchard Avenue) or in the box at the back of the church or in St Andrew’s Hall.
