Milton Road Library
Wednesday 28 September, 7.30pm
The Friends of Milton Road Library will welcome HPERA resident Jim Smith to talk about the history of the estate at the end of the month. Jim said: 'It'll be good to be in a venue so close to the site of the house called Hurst. This will be different from previous talks as I'm going to say more about the buildings along Milton Road and the people who lived in them. I'll revisit a couple of Sara Payne's Down Your Street articles from the 1980s and we'll find ourselves in Histon Road and Arbury Road too. But of course I won't forget the windmill, Leys Farm and the brickworks, which were the inspiration for our research.' The History Trail in the estate has been extended until the end of September, so do make a point of having a look at all the boards before then. Space is limited, so please register via Eventbrite, leave the Friends a note at the library or email them direct. Tickets are free to members of the Friends and £3 to non-members (payable on the door).
